My sleep has been just fantastic with regular exercise and eating more food (current goal: ~2400 kCal per day). I get tired ~10pm, I’m in bed with lights out by ~10.45, I wake up without an alarm ~6.45am, and my energy during the day is great. I haven’t felt exhausted or fatigued in awhile. No naps necessary. It’s pretty awesome.
Yesterday I ate ~1660 kCal. My run this morning was particularly tough, and this afternoon I’m dragging and my body is dying for a nap.
The scientist in me finds this just fascinating. I’ve known since I was a kid that food has calories, calories are energy, and food fuels our bodies. But I’ve never actually paid attention to the effects of food on my own body — beyond change in weight — until recently. And what do you know, that thing I’ve known since I was a kid has real-world application. I hate this sluggish feeling. I want my energy back. Off to find a snack…
